Coalition Ambassadors Selected for 2026-27
June 30, 2026
Twenty-one enrollment professionals from public and private institutions across the country have been selected as Coalition Ambassadors for 2026-27.
This year-long professional development program empowers higher education leaders at Coalition member schools to champion nationally coordinated college access initiatives. Over the course of the year, Ambassadors drive initiatives that democratize access to trusted college admissions information, collaboratively developing programs and resources that help students navigate the college preparation and application process.
“I understand firsthand the challenges that can make navigating the path to higher education feel overwhelming,” says Billy Simmons, assistant director of admissions at the University of Florida, and a former first-generation college student. “I believe access to higher education should not be determined by a student’s background or resources, and I am inspired by the Coalition’s work to remove barriers and create more equitable pathways.”
In addition to supporting direct student outreach, Ambassadors also connect with leaders in the college access and enrollment management fields. The professional development component of the program is designed to provide professionals who are committed to college access with opportunities for networking and professional growth.
“The Ambassador program is a vital part of the Coalition's work,” said Liz Cheron, Coalition CEO. “It allows us to channel the talent of rising admissions professionals into immediate support for students, while equipping these leaders with the mentorship and networks to shape the future of college access.”
The cohort model allows Ambassadors from a diverse range of member institutions to share insights and collaborate on shared challenges.
Reflecting on the impact of her year in the program, Ebony Dixon, associate vice provost and director of admissions and enrollment at the University at Buffalo, noted that the cohort provided a powerful platform for national collaboration.
“The program offered a meaningful opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversations with peers across the nation as we work collectively to support prospective students, their families, and those who guide them through the college process,” Dixon said. She added that the monthly meetings “created a much-needed space for connection, reflection, and shared purpose,” serving as “an important reminder that our work and our voices matter."
The new cohort begins the program August 1.
